Indian River's Beautiful Beaches & Parks

Devoe Beach, located a short walk from the middle of town, offers over 600 feet of sandy beach on the shores of Burt Lake. You can watch the sunset or just take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk beside the Indian River. 

Cooperation Park is a great place to take the family for a day of fun. If sports are your thing, take advantage of the baseball diamonds, blacktop basketball court, soccer fields, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, skateboard area, and ice skating rink. There is a picnic area for your outdoor lunch, and the little ones can play on the playground. Take a walk on the 2.6 mile nature trail, or use it for cross country skiing in the winter.

Burt Lake State Park offers 2000 feet of sandy shoreline, modern camping sites, a picnic area, boat launch, and a mini cabin. More information

Agnes Andrea Nature Preserve. Just a short drive from Indian River, the nature preserve is 27 acres with frontage on the lower Pigeon River. More information can be attained by calling the Little Traverse Conservancy at (231) 347-0991.

The Pigeon River State Forest is home to the largest free-roaming elk herd east of the Mississippi.

Wildwood offers miles of trails for hiking, biking, or cross country skiing. You'll love the unspoiled forest setting, and all trails are marked. Maps are provided at the Chamber of Commerce.
